Tokyo Metropolitan Government building is the highest structure in Shinjuku(243m) and also the administrative center. It is a good port-of-call for the start of your trip, as the Government building has a sightseeing information center where you can get some great up-to-date information on the city. There is also a free observatory(202m) with some fantastic views of the Tokyo Skyline, along with some shops and a cafe.
Shinjuku Central Park is located on the opposite side of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building to Shinjuku Station, and it is used as a place of recreation and relaxation by visitors and businessmen alike.The Shinjuku Niagara waterfall serves as the park's symbol.
Tokyo Opera City is the third highest building in Shinjuku(234m). It has 6 theatre halls including the New National Theatre Tokyo, two museum facilities and the Osamu Tezuka World Entertainment Square, which boasts the largest range of goods relating to Osamu Tezuka.
Shinjuku Golden-gai has a history of over 50 years. There are a variety of interesting shops and Japanese bars here. Shinjuku Gyoen is 58.3 ha(144 acres) in size with a circumference of 3.5 km. It blends three distinct styles; French Formal Garden, English Landscape Garden and Japanese Traditional Garden, and is considered to be one of the most important gardens from the Meiji era. A variety of seasonal sights await you here, from the cherry blossoms in spring to the beautiful changing leaves of autumn.
